November marks Retired Educators Month
Educators have the ability to motivate and inspire generations of students to use their talents and prompt them to become responsible, contributing citizens.
That's why this month we are celebrating Retired Educators Month, and Retired Educators Day in Georgia on Nov. 7, 2021.
The Hart County Retired Educators Association met Nov. 2 at the Agriscience Center, and the Hart County Charter System recognizes them for their years of service and dedication to Hart County and everywhere else they have positively impacted students' lives.
At their November meeting, members Linda Harris, Sandra Brown, and Kathy Fender spoke about the newly renovated Hart County Historical Society Museum. A new "Education Room" is housed in the museum with information, photographs, and artifacts related to the history of education in Hart County — including information about the 31 one-room school houses that used to be the educational settings in Hart County. The museum is located at 31 E. Howell Street.
Also at the meeting, Georgia Retired Educators Association representative Sue Ellen Jones presented multiple state association awards to local President Pam Gordon.
Gov. Brian Kemp recently signed a proclamation designating November 7, 2021 as Retired Educators Day in Georgia to recognize the more than 140,000 retired educators who "have devoted their time and talents to public education in our state."
The Hart County Retired Educators Association consists of more than 100 retired public education employees.
The Georgia Retired Educators Association's mission is to unite retired educators in Georgia for fellowship, support, and educational/community service and to improve benefits for all retired educators through cooperation with local, state, and national organizations.
Thank you to all of our retired educators for continuing to make us #OneHartBeat
