Principal Spotlight: Mrs. Lydia Bennett
As we celebrate National Principals Month in October, the Hart County Charter System will be spotlighting principals at each of our five schools. Today's spotlight is Mrs. Lydia Bennett.
A Franklin County native who was born and raised and continues to reside on Lake Hartwell, Principal Lydia Bennett has been at the helm of Hartwell Elementary School for three years. Before becoming the principal at HES, Mrs. Bennett served seven years as principal at South Hart Elementary School and was the assistant principal for two years prior to that. She has been with the Hart County Charter System since 2011 when she was a special education teacher. Mrs. Bennett attended Piedmont College, where she received the following degrees: B.A. in Elementary Education; Masters Degree in Emotional Behavioral Disorders and Autism; and a Specialist Degree in Leadership Curriculum and Instruction.

“My mother”
Why did you pursue a career in education?
“I have always wanted to work in the field of education. I love students and working with the community to make it better for all.”
What motivates you every day?
“Seeing the smiles on my students' and staff’s faces - knowing we are changing the world.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“Hang out on the lake, read, and shop.”
What’s your favorite thing about Hart County, or favorite activity to do in Hart County?
“Most definitely the lake and the atmosphere in the community.”
A fun fact about yourself that others may not know?
“I have four dogs and two cats; huge UGA fan.”
