Garringer Commended in National Merit Scholarship Program
Hart County High School senior Gabrielle Garringer was named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Principal Kevin Gaines presented Garringer with a Letter of Commendation from Hart County High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that begin 1955. 1.6 million high school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) each year.
"It is a tremendous honor for Gabby to receive such recognition", said Principal Gaines. "It takes a lot of hard work to achieve that level. Gabby has a bright future ahead of her."
Of the 1.6 million, approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized in September for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition.
