Mr. Kendell Rucker, System Teacher of the Year

Mr. Kendell Rucker teaches 7th Grade English Language Arts and Reading at Hart County Middle School.

Mr. Rucker remembers his own teachers, Mr. Harold Fleming and Coach William DeVane, being particularly influential in his life.  He says his previous career with the Department of Juvenile Justice inspired him to become a teacher. He has 8 years of teaching experience, all of those in Hart County.

“Our students are not a homogeneous population, so tailored attention is necessary for their individual needs,” Mr. Rucker said of his philosophy of teaching. “I believe that each child has a unique greatness locked inside of them, and I have a key for each of them. I apply exceptional value and effort in building relationships from the very beginning.”

Kristie Starks Rucker is his proud wife. They have one son, Kaimon. Rucker is a devout member of the Hartwell Church of God of Prophecy where he serves as a praise and worship leader, bible study instructor, Sunday school teacher, and vacation bible school teacher. He is also a member of the church’s finance and youth ministries committees.
