Christie grew up in Hart County and began her teaching career in Habersham County at Habersham Central High School. In the fall of 2009, Christie came back to her alma mater, Hart County High, to teach science. She taught for 15 years before deciding to follow of her dreams of becoming a school counselor. Christie and her husband Kelvin have six children - Madelyne (Mason) Cook, Gaige (Taylor), Fallyne, Lainey, Rhett, and Hadley. They also have two grandchildren Ryker Simpson and Wrenlee Cook.
