**School Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors**
The Hart County Board of Education is accepting applications for School Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors.
1) School Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Director
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass State specified physical exam annually, and be able to obtain and retain a Commercial Drivers License, class B-P with no air brake restrictions.
- Must be capable of driving, backing, and turning around vehicles that are 35 feet and longer.
- Must be able to understand mechanical functions of a school bus and be able to report vehicle defects.
- Must like children and be able to deal with them effectively.
- Must be able to control bus and students at the same time.
- Must be willing to learn and perform new skills.
Duties:
- Is present at work everyday, on time, and performs all duties as assigned
effectively and efficiently. - Is neat and professional in appearance befitting the job they provide the school system.
- Shall exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public.
- Maintain discipline on the school bus and offers due process to all
students. - Do a complete pre-trip inspection prior to each operation and reports
defects immediately on the appropriate form. - Comply with pick up and drop off locations and times.
- Continually update route book for accuracy.
- Report all accidents and emergencies immediately.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Georgia Vehicle Code,
and all laws set forth by governmental agencies. - Comply with district policies and procedures.
- Comply with all directives from supervisor - written or verbal.
- Clean vehicles on a daily basis.
- Ensure mirror system alignment.
- Attend training as required.
- Use good judgment and positive communication skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
2) School Bus Monitors
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor and works in coordination with bus driver
Qualifications:
- Experience with children.
- Good judgment skills.
- Good child care skills.
- Skills in student management.
- Must be a team player.
Duties:
- Is present at work everyday, on time, and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.
- Is neat and professional in appearance befitting the job they provide the school system.
- Shall exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public.
- Ride the bus to assist in transporting student to and from school safely.
- Assist with boarding and de-boarding students and the securing of
restraint systems. - Assist with medical and behavior problems.
- Interact with student while they ride the bus.
- Work as a team with the bus driver.
- Attend training and meetings as requested or required.
- Other duties as assigned.
