  • Please see the updated guidance in regards to COVID-19:

On August 19, the Georgia Department of Public Health issued new guidance for school districts regarding COVID-19. These new procedures will begin on Monday, August 23.

If a student is exposed to COVID-19, the parents will be notified via SchoolStatus. Exposed students will be required to wear masks at school and on buses for 14 days. The district will provide masks to those in need. Masking will allow continued participation in in-person learning, extracurricular activities, and school-sponsored events.

If you choose not to wear a mask you will have to quarantine at home for the 14-day period. While at home, students will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities or school-sponsored events.

As new guidance becomes available, procedures will be reviewed. Our goal is to continue in-person learning. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we continue to navigate the 21-22 school year!

    Visit https://www.hart.k12.ga.us/ for more information.

A sample of the text message and letter that parents will receive if their child is in contact with a positive case is included below:

  • HCMS Cell Phone Policy - Revised 09/04/2020

Student cell phones are banned during the instructional day.

Student phones must be powered off and out of sight during the instructional day. Phones are to be powered off when entering the building and are not to be turned back on until students exit at the end of the instructional day.

Student phones are prohibited in the restrooms.  When students leave the classroom to go to the restroom, phones must stay in the classroom.

Faculty/staff may have their cell phones with them during the day.  However, at Hart County Middle School cell phone use is prohibited by teachers and staff members for personal use while assigned to students or during teaching instructional times.

The principal will have full discretion to update this policy at any time as deemed necessary for the good of the HCMS community.

Please refer to the student agenda/rule book for consequences related to this policy.
