Hartwell Elementary Recognized by GaDOE
Hartwell Elementary School was recently recognized by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) for two awards. On February 28, 2017, the school was named one of Georgia schools that “beat the odds”. Then on March 2, Hartwell Elementary was designated a Title I Reward School.
This is the second consecutive year that Hartwell Elementary has been named a Title I Reward High-Progress School. A High-Progress School is among the 10 percent of Georgia’s Title I schools that made the most progress in improving the performance of the “all students” group over three years on the statewide assessments. This recognition is based on 2013-2015 data.
Schools that “beat the odds” in 2016 performed better on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) than statistically expected. CCRPI is Georgia’s accountability system that measures schools and school districts on a 100-point scale based on multiple performance indicators.
The GaDOE’s Beating the Odds analysis predicts a school’s CCRPI score range based on multiple factors including the school’s size, grade cluster, student mobility, and student demographics (race/ethnicity, disability, English learners, poverty, etc.). If the school receives a CCRPI score that is better than predicted, it has beat the odds.
A technical overview of the 2016 Beating the Odds analysis can be found on the GADOE’s website.
